Mac App — Install on Mac

Download Mac app · Flash V14 firmware

Install on Mac

Download QuickVibeHost 2.8.0 from the download page, open the DMG and drag the app into Applications. For the unnotarized build, right-click the app and choose Open. If macOS still blocks it, remove the quarantine attribute only from the app you downloaded from this site.

Permissions and settings

Enable Bluetooth and Accessibility in macOS System Settings. Grant microphone permission when using the Mac microphone. Download a local speech model in Settings → Voice, or configure your chosen recognition engine. Keep the app running while using the device.

Connect MicStick V14

Power on the device and add it on the app Devices page. If it is not found, check Bluetooth permission and whether another Mac is connected. Complete WorkBuddy setup below before selecting a WorkBuddy session.

Sessions and input

Claude Code and Codex CLI support direct input when launched through vibepty after installing the component in the app. Codex Desktop does not support direct input; open its session to handle approvals. For normal input, confirm the target text field has focus before speaking.

Buttons and scene controls

Hold A to speak and release to finish. A single click sends Return; a double click starts or stops long recording. B deletes text; C sends Escape and can cancel recognition. Hold C to switch apps. Rotate D to select sessions; hold D to request a scene for the foreground app. Actions depend on the current screen and capabilities. WorkBuddy scene actions are listed below.

Optional features

Prompt recommendations and the input assistant require enabling Advanced Features and configuring a quick LLM. When disabled, double B performs two deletes and double C sends two Escapes. Device approvals for WorkBuddy are separately opt-in; see the restart requirement below.

Power and feedback

The screen, LED and buzzer report device state. V14 1.2.3 adds multi-agent lifecycle sounds and extended cards with local WorkBuddy credit metadata. Check the battery before use; connect USB-C to charge. Sleep, shutdown and transport settings are described on the device and app.

Versions and updates

The full WorkBuddy experience uses QuickVibeHost 2.8.0 and MicStick V14 firmware 1.2.3. Existing protocol 5 features retain their minimum Mac app requirement of 2.7.5. Older devices negotiate reduced capabilities. This firmware is only for V14.

Firmware update

For browser flashing, use desktop Chrome or Edge over HTTPS with a USB-C data cable. Select the device serial port on the firmware page. For OTA, use the update flow in the Mac app; firmware must pass signature validation against the existing device trust root.

Troubleshooting

Check the Bluetooth connection, macOS permissions and focused input field first. If WorkBuddy approvals are missing, enable the plugin and fully restart WorkBuddy. A timeout or disconnect falls back to WorkBuddy native approval. Do not interpret unavailable credit records as an account balance.

WorkBuddy support and setup

The full WorkBuddy experience requires QuickVibeHost 2.8.0 and MicStick V14 1.2.3. The app detects local WorkBuddy sessions, activity and credit records, and distinguishes running from waiting. Credits are not a live account balance or Token quota; this integration does not use an official cloud API.

Install and open WorkBuddy, select a session in the app to jump to it, then confirm the input field has focus before using normal voice input. WorkBuddy does not support vibepty direct input.

Device approvals are off by default. Enable the local plugin in app settings, then fully quit and restart WorkBuddy. The plugin handles Bash PreToolUse and PermissionRequest. The device supports allow once or deny once, not always allow for a session. Disconnects, timeouts or unavailable approvals fall back to the native flow; they are never automatically approved.

WorkBuddy scene controls include previous/next task, new task, quick question, results panel and stop task. They depend on WorkBuddy shortcuts and macOS Accessibility permission; older devices fall back according to their capabilities. Claude Code, Codex CLI and Codex Desktop retain their distinct input capabilities.
